Armpit detoxes have started up quite a hygiene frenzy on the World Wide Web.

If you search ‘armpit detox’ on Google, a number of how-to videos and articles, testifying to its benefits, will appear. Flair was intrigued by the many online proclamations, so we set out to find out if this growing trend is done here. And guess what? It is! Armit Natural Deodorants has added armpit detoxes to its line of products.

“The reception we have been receiving so far is quite good. Many people are saying it is soothing,” Tara Munroe, co-owner of Armit, explained to Flair recently.

You must be wondering what on earth is an armpit detox, right? It’s a safe and simple cleansing process that helps the body get rid of toxins that have built up over time on the skin. And it’s as easy as one, two, three.

“We call it Detox It. We use an all-natural detox paste. When you apply this before the deodorant it helps with so many things, like reducing sweat and toxins from persons who are using store-bought deodorant and it pulls everything from your armpits and lymph nodes, making you odour-free eventually,” she said.

Plus, those blackened armpits that some of us are bothered with, a detox gets rid of that too, making the skin lighter and you more comfortable.

If you’ve tried natural deodorants and they haven’t worked, or your armpits are irritated, bumpy, or itchy, and you are heavily dependent on antiperspirant and/or deodorant, these are signs that you may need a detox.

Munroe says there are no likely side effects of the detox, and it can be done at least three times per week.

“Even though sweating is healthy for you, reducing the amount your body releases is not a bad thing. You just need to release it the right way. Many of the deodorants have chemicals like aluminium that block your pores, and you don’t want that,” she said.

Fifteen minutes. That’s all you need right before bath time to carry out this type of alternative treatment.

Like many other scrubs, the detox it is made of bentonite clay, an organic clay with a fine and soft texture, tea tree oil and apple cider vinegar. This makes it perfectly healthy for you. She also noted it can be used on all skin types.  When it comes to the results of the detox, there is no one size fits all. It’s left completely up to your body. However, like Munroe, you may start seeing the benefits in two weeks.
