Faux lashes have a reputation of altering the shape of the eyes, making them appear bigger and sexier. You’ll look at them in their bonny packages and think, how cute! But when you put them on they look blah. You did not apply them right. That must be irksome. But Flair has you covered.

We know how it gets when your make-up is spoiled. And let’s face it, applying your lashes properly is like mastering fine art. That’s why we journeyed to EC Makeup Bar in Little Premier Plaza for a beauty talk with make-up artist and store manager Yaquema Sewell.

Sewell assured us that you don’t have to be a professional to apply synthetic eyelashes. But before we go any further, “Ladies hair glue is not for your eyes, it’s too strong. I recommend lash adhesives,” she cautioned.

Now, it’s game time. There’s not a lot of plays in this ball game. The beauty expert outlined five, which you must grasp.

Start by trimming the lashes to fits your eye frame.

Remember it’s not a one size fit all, so you’ll have to make a few adjustments. Plus, there’s a lash to fit every frame. You only need to identify your true match. Almond, deep-set, hooded, monolid, or round, which shape is yours?

Apply the lash adhesive

Hold the lash with tweezers and gently apply a thin coating of glue along the band of the lash. And here’s a helpful tip, the less glue you use, the easier it is to remove your lashes at the end of the day.

“There are a number of adhesives that you can use. Some of them you don’t have to wait for them to dry. Plus, the black glue is not the only one available. There are clear adhesives as well,” the expert explained.

Look downwards into a mirror and attach the lashes to your lash lines.

Looking straight ahead when attaching the lashes is a big mistake. You’ll have a difficult time and will certainly be poking yourself in the eyes. Using the downward method will allow your eyelids to extend. It’s like closing your eyes so your lash line will become more visible.

Use an eyeliner to camouflage the strip’s band.

“This is when you’ll also check to make sure that all the ends are connected. Sometimes when you look at some women, the corners are lifted. This is why you also have to ensure that you are using a really good glue,” Sewell advised.

Admire your lashes and be on your way

Pat yourself on yourself on the shoulder. You’ve done it and it’s time to adore those perfectly fastened and gorgeous lashes.

“Lashes make everything better!” Sewell said.

Now, isn’t this easy?
